Matrushka School Store Matrushka is an independent non-profit toy and gift store located at 252 Main Street, Great Barrington. The store contributes its annual surplus to the school's annual fund, which supports teacher and staff salaries, tuition assistance and the many expenses of running the school. It relies on regular volunteer help and patronage from the school community to continue its mission to provide quality toys and gifts consistent with the Waldorf philosophy and to give the school a presence in the greater community. Since the time of its origin as a little store in the school building, the school store has been an indispensable resource for parents and teachers in need of birthday, holiday, or baby gifts, books and handwork supplies. Business has continued to grow, as both local residents and summer people have discovered the store's ever-changing selection of unusual toys, handmade gifts from around the world, cards, books and other delights. Matrushka welcomes and encourages local artists and crafts people to submit their work; we would rather buy locally made dolls and toys than order from afar. Call Matrushka at (413) 528-6911.
