Last year Tim Ryan from FCD (Freedom From Chemical Dependency) came to work with our middle school students, to speak with parents and to meet with faculty members. There was an enthusiastic response from all three constituents, and we have arranged for him to return this year. Tim will be meeting with sixth, seventh and eighth grades students on three consecutive days in January and will speak with parents on Wednesday evening, January 20 at 7:30 p.m. in our auditorium. He will have some time available to meet with individual parents if requested. Parents are asked to call Marilyn Ruppart at ext 105 to arrange for an appointment, if they so wish.
Parents can learn more about FCD on their website, www.fcd.org. They are a highly respected organization that has worked for 30 years with hundreds of schools, including many Waldorf schools, in our country and around the world to provide students with the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need to make intelligent, healthy choices about alcohol and other drug use.
Parents of students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades are particularly encouraged to come to this discussion on January 20, as it promises to be both informative and practical.
